Now 27-years-old, Randall is using his life to educate and eradicate domestic violence. He recently sat down with NBC 12 to share his inspiring story.

Randall’s mother, Deborah, was pregnant with him when his father shot and killed her. She gave birth to De’Dongio while still in a coma before taking her last breath.

The RPD Officer grew up acknowledging his grandmother as his mom, before finding out at 10-years-old the astonishing truth.

Now, titles like “Role Model” are casually applied to his name, as Randall works tirelessly within the system to prevent domestic violence.

“Coming back to the streets of Richmond, I felt like I understand the culture, the communities and I feel like I can hands-on help out… In life, a lot of kids and families are suffering with domestic violence now,” he said.

Randall will be speaking this Monday at the Martin Luther King Community Day event at the Trinity Family Life Center on Monday from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. The event is brought to you by Miss Community Clovia and Radio One Richmond. Topics including domestic violence and mental health will take center stage. Professionals will also be on hand.

“Walk away. Take that second to breathe, walk away,” he said. “Because generations can be impacted.”
