Ben & Jerry’s released a new frozen yogurt flavor called “Lin-Sanity” in honor of Knicks rising star Jeremy Lin. However, this frozen yogurt was made with fortune cookie pieces. Jeremy Lin is Asian. The Ben & Jerry released a statement that there only trying to “create a flavor to honor Jeremy Lin’s accomplishments and his meteoric rise in the NBA, and recognize that he was a local Harvard graduate. We try (to) demonstrate our commitment as a Boston-based, valued-led business and if we failed in this instance we offer our sincere apologies.”
The fortune cookies pieces was replaced with waffles cookies. Ryan Midden, Ben & Jerry’s general manager for Boston and Cambridge, had said this change was made because “a couple of [pints] got returned because the cookies got so soggy.”
Change of ingredients because of soggy cookies or racist cookies? Hmmmm
