Boosie Badazz (real name Torence Hatch Jr.) pleaded guilty today to being a felon in possession of a firearm, relating to his May 2023 arrest in San Diego. That incident began after police spotted Boosie with a gun tucked in his waistband during an Instagram Live video while shooting a music video. A helicopter eventually tracked the vehicle he was in, and police found two loaded handguns during a traffic stop.

In the months that followed, state charges were dismissed—but the feds later refiled the case. The back-and-forth kept the rapper in a legal tug-of-war that spanned over two years.

Earlier this month, Boosie turned to social media to confirm the deal, writing, “Just accepted a plea from the federal government on my gun case… I thought this case was over n I was going to get on with my life but ‘God don’t make mistakes’ n I’m tired of fighting. Talked to my family n this is the right decision.” He urged supporters to pray for him and to check out his new album, Words of a Real One.

Boosie’s sentencing is scheduled for November 21.

After a long, public fight, Boosie has finally closed this legal chapter. Now, all eyes shift to November 21—when we’ll see if he can trade court dates for career moves.
