Ciao Bella, @inewborn here checking in from glamorous Milan, Italy and Fashion Week.  Finally, the day has arrived. The purpose of our trip to Milan Fashion Week, seeing the hottest fashions.  Our host set our evening up with two exquisite events. The first stop of the evening, Bottega Veneta’s artfully designed flagship store.  A quick walk around the corner brought us to our second location, the enchanting Villa Meissen. Che bella notte.

9:25am

I hear yelling from the living room.  Andrea’s home football team, Torino, is playing their rivals Bologna. I should be sleep, as we didn’t get in until 5am; but the guys are so excited! And I do love a good game.

10am

I give the game 30 minutes, and I’m back in bed.  My head is still spinning from excitement the night before. We don’t have to be ready until 7pm so we sleep and lounge in the apartment all day. I really love this balcony.

7:30pm

Out the door, Tasha and I are headed to a the grand opening Bottega Veneta’s Flagship store here in Milan.

While Tasha is familiar with the brand, she hasn’t done much business with them. This party has reintroduced her to their immaculate tailoring and finishing. The color pallet for their winter collection of men’s suiting is so chic. Subtle mauves, and purple grays. Their brand signature, the weaving pattern, is seen in every facet of the collection.

But the real reason for this party, a celebration of the actual space! We enter the party through the men’s department and notice the beauty of the design immediately. The same detail that goes into every article of clothing and accessory has gone into the design of the store. How each couch and chair is placed, the suede shelving that showcases the men’s shoes. It’s as if you are in his and her closets. My favorite part of the store, the pool in the middle of the women’s department. 5 mannequins sit in 3 corners of the pool, life like; connected to the water, and engaged in conversation with each other. This is a true destination and a superb shopping experience.

As we venture through store, Tasha is taken by and electric blue suit jacket on a fellow party goer.  His look is so dramatic, we have to get a picture.  When our paths cross again, he stops us. He had to come back and meet the fabulous two women everyone is talking about.  They have been taking quite a few pictures of Tasha.

8:45pm

On to the next party…

9pm

A quick walk around the corner brings us to our next destination.  The enchanting Villa Meissen… Its a Vogue Italia sponsored, Alice in Wonderland Garden party under the stars. The courtyard is full of fabulous people, flowing champagne, and my favorite, French macarons.  There are six stages set up on the perimeter of the courtyard and one stage in the middle.  The green lighting cast an interesting glow on the party and the couture gowns.

Spotted: Franca Sozzani, Vogue Italia editor-in-chief, giving an interview.

This is the first showing of clothing and accessories by Meissen Couture.  Founded in 1710 by King Augustus II, Meissen is a German company known in the field of Fine Art for their luxury porcelain sculptures.  The same attention to detail that is taken to sculpting and painting these beautiful pieces, is put into every garment and handbag.  The men’s day bag is lined with their signature fabric.  Every ladies handbag can be customized with a painting from their master artisans on the interior flap; a process that takes 12 hours to create.  Christina Knorr, board member and managing director for the brand, was very kind in telling us all about it.

Frida Weyer, designer for the brand, did an excellent job. There is no doubt in my mind we will soon see these couture gowns on the red carpet.

10:30pm

And we’re off to dinner with friends.  What a way to end our time here in Milan.  A few parties, a few viewings, great contacts.  Monday will mean back to work, so I only have the strength for dinner and a few rounds of drinks.

12midnight

Hello bed!!
