Held August 8–9, the annual festival brought together established stars, rising artists and music lovers for a weekend of diverse performances across two stages.

A Weekend Built Around the Music
From the moment festivalgoers entered Maymont, it felt like more than a series of concerts. Families, longtime attendees and younger music fans filled the grounds, creating the cross-generational energy that has become part of the Richmond Jazz & Music Festival experience.

Erykah Badu Closes Out the Weekend
Erykah Badu served as the festival’s headliner, returning to RJMF for the second time in the festival’s 16-year history.
Her appearance gave the weekend a fitting finale, bringing one of contemporary soul and neo-soul’s most recognizable voices to the Dominion Energy stage.
Erykah Badu closed out the festival with a soulful, electrifying performance that had the crowd on its feet. From the moment she took the stage, her unmistakable presence commanded Maymont, with fans singing, dancing and soaking in every moment.
From Hip-Hop to R&B, the Lineup Kept Richmond Moving.
The Weekend Wasn’t Limited to One Sound
Lupe Fiasco brought his hip-hop catalog to the festival, while LLOYD represented the R&B side of the lineup. LLOYD was added to the festival’s 2026 lineup in July, giving fans another familiar R&B voice to look forward to.
Leon Thomas continued the festival’s blend of contemporary R&B and jazz influences, while Grammy-winning jazz vocalist Samara Joy represented the next generation of jazz talent.
That mixture of legendary names, established performers and newer voices helped give the weekend its range.
For many attendees, the Richmond Jazz & Music Festival is just as much about the experience between sets as it is about the artists themselves. The food, fashion, conversations, dancing and unexpected moments throughout the grounds all contribute to the festival’s personality.
