What is “Resurrection?” “Resurrection is a new 2013-14 TV show due to premiere on ABC in early 2014. The mystery series, which stars Omar Epps, is set in Arcadia, Missouri, a small town where residents’ deceased loved ones suddenly begin turning up and freaking everyone out.

The first is Jacob, an 8-year-old boy who drowned 30 years earlier. The boy wakes up in a rice paddy in China and is taken back to the United States by immigration agent Martin Bellamy (Epps), and when he arrives in Arcadia, he recognizes his parents—who’ve aged three decades—and reveals secrets about his death no one could have known.

What is “Resurrection?” This new 2013-14 TV series comes to ABC via the pages of “The Returned,” a novel by Jason Mott. Adapted for the screen by Aaron Zelman, known for his work on “The Killing” and “Damages,” it also stars Devin Kelley, Samaire Armstrong, Sam Hazeldine, Nicholas Gonzalez, Matt Craven and Mark Hildreth. The hour-long drama was originally titled “Forever,” but by March 2013, the title had been changed to “Resurrection.”

The question, “What is ‘Resurrection?’” as in is it a hit or a dud, is tough to answer, critics haven’t yet seen the pilot episode, and there are no reviews making the rounds. But the ABC new TV series has been generating plenty of buzz, and given the star power of Epps, as well as the fact that Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company is listed among the show’s producers, bodes well for the “Resurrection.”
