The day is finally here. The King will choose his court.
The LeBron James free agency saga has been discussed, analyzed and hypothesized about since more than two seasons ago, as his contract began to wind down. Tonight, in front of millions of NBA die-hards and casual fans alike, James will decide where he will spend his next few seasons.
Multiple sources, including ESPN.com, Newsday and AOL have reported that James is leaning towards joining fellow superstar Dwyane Wade and nearly-superstar Chris Bosh in Miami. But, with all the different ways reporters, experts and fellow NBA’ers have been leaning in the past few weeks, believing anyone but LeBron himself seems foolish, so we’ll wait until 9 p.m. tonight to know for sure.
James will announce his decision within the first ten minutes of the ESPN special fittingly titled “The Decision.” James’ camp approached ESPN about the special, and the network agreed to allow James to donate the sponsorship proceeds to charity, in this case the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The show will be broadcast from Greenwich, Conn., a New York suburb.
