Floyd Mayweather Facing Felony Charges Over $200K Watch Purchase

According to court records, Mayweather is facing two felony charges in Las Vegas: theft of property valued at more than $100,000 and issuing a check with intent to defraud. The charges stem from allegations that he used a $200,000 check to purchase an Audemars Piguet watch from luxury retailer Gold & Beyond in December 2024 despite allegedly having insufficient funds available to cover the purchase.
The retailer reportedly waited more than a year before pursuing legal action, claiming it attempted to resolve the matter privately and give Mayweather time to make good on the payment. The complaint was ultimately filed after those efforts allegedly went nowhere.
Mayweather did not appear at a recent court hearing, with legal representatives attending on his behalf. His attorney has reportedly argued that the dispute should be handled as a civil matter rather than a criminal case.
The case adds to a growing list of financial and legal headlines surrounding the undefeated boxing icon in recent months.
If convicted, Mayweather could face significant penalties, though the case is still in its early stages and no verdict has been reached.
