Cousinz Fest Turns Labor Day Into A Family Reunion
Big Nat tapped in with Fam-Lay and Pusha T to break down why the 3rd Annual Cousinz Festival is turning Labor Day weekend into a full-on family reunion for Hampton Roads and beyond. The festival goes down September 5th on the Norfolk Scope grounds in Norfolk, Virginia. All day long, the area transforms into a blended indoor and outdoor experience that feels like a hometown cookout with an arena-level lineup.
Two Parties In One Day
Fam-Lay explains that Cousinz Fest is built like two parties in one. The day starts outside with an R&B block party that sets the tone early. The outdoor portion features DJs, food trucks, live performances and a true day-party vibe. It gives the 757 and 804 room to move around, connect and celebrate the culture in an open, family-style setting. Later in the evening, everything shifts inside the Norfolk Scope Arena, where a stacked lineup of headliners takes over the main stage.

All-Star Lineup And Surprise Moments
This year’s bill brings serious star power, with T.I., Keyshia Cole, The-Dream and Plies leading the charge. DJ Envy and Bryan Michael Cox and friends add even more energy to the night, making Cousinz Fest a must-see for R&B and hip-hop fans. Fam-Lay also salutes regional DJ talent like DJ Envy, Quicksilva, Jae Murphy and more, plus on-stage hosts who keep the crowd turned up all day. When Nat asks about a surprise set, Pusha T plays it cool and hints that fans may need to pull up to see what kind of “trouble” he plans to cause on stage.
Community, Scholarships And Giving Back
Beyond the music, Fam-Lay stresses that Cousinz Festival is rooted in community, family and real impact. Through his Hold the Door program, the team has already supported Norfolk State and TCC with scholarship funds and plans to grow that number every year. The festival also partners with local businesses and organizations like Million Energy to give back in tangible ways. That support ranges from providing AC units to redoing lawns and homes for families in need. For Fam-Lay and Pusha T, that community work sits at the center of what Cousinz Fest represents.
