Pixar Releases the “Toy Story 5” Trailer — and It Could Be A Battle Of The Generations.

Pixar has officially dropped the trailer for Toy Story 5, and I think I can safely speak for every millennial when I say: this is a 3D animated film will be putting us at war with the younger generations. The moment the trailer hit the internet, it became clear that Pixar will be painiting a picture with those who grew up with Woody and Buzz — and those who grew up on electronics going head to head competeing for playtime.

The Theme? Toys vs. Electronics

This popular theme is topic of converstaion revelant to today. Do children prefer playing on electroincs over playing with toys? As a milennial, who is the middle child, this is intentional, but yet a playful nod to our generation that grew up on imagination-driven playtime at the rise of digital gadgets, it’s obvious electionics will be antagonist, however I predict pixar is going to bring this theme fullcircle allowing both toys and eletrioncs exisiting together.

But Let’s Address the Big Question: How Is Woody Back?

As excited as we are, there is one thing we’re wondering: How is Woody back??
In Toy Story 4, Woody left with Bo Peep to start a new life. A beautiful ending. A final chapter. A send-off we all accepted… reluctantly.

So seeing him front and center again in the trailer has us confused — and curious.

Pixar knows exactly what they’re doing. Personally, I’m convinced they’re going to answer that question immediately:

  • Did Woody and Bo Peep break up?
  • Are they both returning?
  • Is there a new twist we don’t see coming?

Not to mention is Woody going to be useful without his voicebox or will it be replaced? Whatever the story is, Pixar has us hooked. Again.

This Is Brilliant Marketing, Pixar

Let’s be honest: we’re all showing up to theaters because we’re nosy. We need answers. And Pixar understands the assignment.

They’ve mastered nostalgia marketing, as milennials are remaining the prime audience:

  • We grew up on these characters.
  • We cried at Toy Story 3.
  • We debated whether Toy Story 4 should’ve even happened.
  • And now we’re emotionally invested… again.

Pixar knows we’re loyal, and they’re using that loyalty brilliantly.

At the End of the Day, We’ll Always Have a Friend in Woody and Buzz

No matter how many sequels come out, one thing hasn’t changed: these two characters feel like childhood friends we grew up with. So yes — we’re going to theaters June 19th, popcorn in hand, ready to figure out what’s going on. Because just like the song says, we will always have a friend in Woody, Buzz and the of remander gang.
