K.Samone’s Text Bae of The Day: Dargenaba Dee Dee Anderson

The Text Bae of the Day (TBOTD) highlights individuals, organizations and businesses making a positive impact in our community.

Today’s TBOTD is Dargenaba “Dee Dee” Anderson of the Richmond Police Department’s Community Youth Intervention Services. Dee Dee has developed a new program called Her Table, Her Budget, designed to empower women in low-income communities.

This women’s wellness initiative is a four-week program that equips women in underserved communities with the tools to thrive financially, nutritionally and personally.

Anderson explained the program’s mission: “This program is about more than budgeting or cooking. It’s about dignity, opportunity and building connections with and for our neighbors. We want women to feel empowered in their homes, communities and workplaces.”
