Chosen Journey: Darlene McCoy-Jackson’s Journey of Renewal
Dr. Darlene McCoy-Jackson brought her unparalleled wisdom and inspiring testimony to the latest episode of the Chosen Journey Show, hosted by Trendsetter Sense. With heartfelt candor, the nationally syndicated radio host, philanthropist, gospel artist, and spiritual leader shared her reflections on her spiritual path, the rebirth of her influential 4th Watch ministry, and the vital importance of purpose and faith in a time of great challenge and transformation.
A Recognizable Voice in Gospel and Radio
Described by Trendsetter Sense as “one of the most recognizable voices in gospel,” Dr. McCoy-Jackson opened up about her multifaceted career, which seamlessly blends her artistry, ministry, and community impact. She acknowledged that her life has been a testament to understanding and fulfilling God’s calling.
“When God opened up this door for me to get in radio, my first answer to them was no,” she admitted, referencing her beginnings as an artist. “And because I’m an artist, I thought I would just be doing my music. But the Lord started calling me to be a voice. I actually thought it wouldn’t last more than six months. Here, 15 years later, here we are.”
This longevity is remarkable, but as Dr. McCoy-Jackson shared, it’s her ability to stay aligned with God’s voice that drives her forward. “One of the main things that a believer has to have is an understanding of the voice of God—knowing the difference between when it’s you and when it’s God.”
The Revival of 4th Watch Ministry
A centerpiece of the conversation was the return of the 4th Watch ministry, a spiritual initiative Dr. McCoy-Jackson first launched in 2009. After a 12-year hiatus, the ministry has been reignited, signaling a new era of outreach and healing. The 4th Watch focuses on intercession and spiritual connection during the hours of 3 a.m. to 6 a.m., a time that Dr. McCoy-Jackson explained holds deep spiritual significance.
“Between 3 and 6 a.m. is when the angels and demons are headed back to their respective hosts after their nightly work. We gain a lot of ground in the 4th Watch when we hear God and get direction,” she explained. Drawing from scripture, she highlighted key moments that occurred during this time, including Jacob wrestling with the angel and Jesus walking on water. “I dare you to pursue God in the 4th Watch, because I promise you’re going to find Him. If you seek Him, you’re going to find Him.”
The ministry has already resonated with countless individuals. Hosts sessions are held virtually on the fourth Saturday of each month at 3 a.m. Since January 2025, participants have connected from across the globe through Zoom. This July, the 4th Watch ministry will hold its first in-person gathering in Atlanta, with plans to expand to other states.
“This ministry isn’t for one church or one denomination,” she emphasized. “This is for the Church—the global body of believers. I even welcome atheists, because sometimes all people need is an encounter.”
A Journey of Healing and Purpose
Beyond her ministry and media achievements, Dr. McCoy-Jackson offered a glimpse into her personal challenges and triumphs, including her battle with breast cancer. She recounted a difficult season when nothing seemed to go as planned. “It felt like everything I touched was failing. I kept asking God, ‘Is it over?’”
This period of struggle culminated in a prophetic word from a fellow minister who urged her to restart the 4th Watch. “I struggled with that word,” she admitted. “But once I said yes, everything began to change.”
Her renewed sense of purpose is evident in all aspects of her life. She also revealed that her cancer recovery led her to explore spiritual meditation, which she now practices as part of her healing and alignment disciplines. “Meditation is such an important spiritual discipline. I incorporate the Word of God and worship into it, and I think it’s something we need to teach more.”
An Inspirational Call to Action
Throughout the interview, Dr. McCoy-Jackson’s words were filled with encouragement and hope. She urged listeners to seek God’s voice, pursue their purpose, and participate in a collective revival that she believes is unfolding.
“This is a time of rebuilding and restoration for the Kingdom,” she declared. “We need to take on the love of God and start to embrace. Revival is happening—and we are not in a position to tell God who He can revive.”
Her prayer during the session was a deeply moving moment, as she asked for strength, guidance, and spiritual renewal for anyone feeling lost or disconnected. “God, I pray that you pour your Spirit out and bind up the enemy’s hand that’s keeping people afraid or away from You… Revival is inevitable, and it is time.”
Looking Ahead
From her prophetic ministry to her personal resilience, Dr. Darlene McCoy-Jackson exemplifies unwavering faith and vision. Her revival of the 4th Watch and her message of inclusion and empowerment offer a stirring reminder of what’s possible when purpose aligns with God’s plan.
“As long as you seek Him, you’ll find Him,” she told listeners. “And when revival comes, we need to be ready—for revival isn’t about chasing people. It’s about becoming the Church people want to see.”
