A New York judge on Monday sentenced the man who videotaped Eric Garner’s fatal police chokehold death to four years in prison on weapon possession charges and drug sales, the New York Daily News reports.

Ramsey Orta, 25, accepted a plea deal in July on charges of selling heroin, crack, marijuana, and other illegal narcotics to an undercover officer. Authorities also caught him carrying a .25-caliber pistol.

Orta and his supporters believe that the police have targeted him over his 2014 video of the police involved killing of Garner. He’s had several encounters with the police since then.

The Daily News reported that protesters stood up in the Staten Island courtroom and chanted, “No justice no peace! F**k these racist police!”

Jewel Miller, the mother of one of Garner’s children, underscored to the newspaper that Orta recorded Garner’s final words, “I can’t breathe,” while Officer Daniel Pantaleo refused to release his chokehold.

“Ramsey Orta is a young boy. He’s just getting into adulthood. He’s just becoming a man and it’s really sad,” she told the newspaper.

After the sentencing, Orta said to his family that he will be alright, according to The Daily News.

His aunt, Lisa Ricardo, told the newspaper that she “would tell the police, don’t touch him. Hands off Ramsey. Leave him alone in jail.”
