It looks like there’s trouble in paradise for NBA star Ty Lawson and his reality star girlfriend Ashley Nicole Pettiford. Both were arrested for their parts in an argument that spiraled out of control.

The Denver Nuggets guard got into an argument with his girlfriend, who is known for being on a recent season of “Bad Girls Club,” at his home and things got so loud, the police were called. The arresting officer was Arapahoe County Sheriff Grayson Robinson. Robinson told reporters, “They were yelling at each other and broke each other’s phones. I don’t believe it was physical otherwise.” Despite what Robinson told reporters, both were charged with criminal mischief and physical harassment. In fact, a restraining order was issued after the charges were filed, which is mandatory in some cases surrounding a domestic dispute.

After being freed on $1,000 bond, Ty Lawson took to Twitter in an attempt to clear his name.  Denver sportscaster Vic Lombardi tweeted, “Ty Lawson does not fit the profile. At all. Something fishy here.” Lawson responded to that tweet with, “20 day old fish.” The Denver Nuggets released an official statement, “We are fully aware of an incident involving Ty Lawson over the weekend. Per team policy and out of respect for the legal process, we will have no further comment at this time.”

Wilson Chandler came out in support of Ty lawson, but not in the best way. Chandler tweeted a terrible joke, “Young Ty trying to get that street cred up lol.” After catching some heat for his failed attempt at a joke, Chandler tweeted, “All jokes, that story is suspect. He’s not even on that type of time.”

my question is if all they did was scream at each other and break their respective phones, why did they have to go to jail?
