Hip-Hop used to be all about originality and celebrating individuality. However, somewhere along the line, rappers starting coveting beats and flows that were hotter than theirs. To combat that, a lot of rappers started jumping on beats introduced to the world by other artists. While that did breathe new life into the genre for a time, but as with a cool trend, many of Hip-Hop’s players ran it into the ground. Our friends at The Smoking Section were feeling the same way and wrote about some ofd the most overused beats in the business. Check out an excerpt:

Lil Wayne – “A Milli”

Bangladesh turned Hip-Hop on its head with this obnoxiously hot street single from Tha Carter III. Yet, rappers and R&B singers alike still managed to run this one into the ground by constantly trying to outdo one another – despite the original quite possibly being the strongest of them all.

Known Culprits: Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Asher Roth, Lil Mama, Fabolous, Jay-Z, LL Cool J, Chris Brown, Corey Gunz, Jadakiss, Peedi Crack, Tyler The Creator & Ne-Yo
