Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network will host the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington. The event will take place on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at the Lincoln Memorial where thousands will gather at 8 a.m.  The rally will not only commemorate Dr Martin Luther King Jr’s march of 1963 to put an end to the Jim Crow era and the signing of the Voter Rights Act of 1965 but remind us that we need to take a stand against injustices across this great nation today.

The peaceful rally is intended to identify and take a stand against discriminatory practices with voter rights, Stand your ground laws, racial profiling, raise awareness about unemployment and mass incarceration. These issues are affecting our nation.

Did you know that black voters in Virginia had to pay a poll tax to vote until 1965?
