What is “Celebrity Crime Files?” “Celebrity Crime Files” is a popular TV One documentary TV series that returns for a second season at 9 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013. The show “excavates infamous scandals surrounding prominent figures in entertainment, sports, and politics,” according to a press release, and in season 2, “Celebrity Crime Files” will focus on such high-profile peeps as Michael Jackson, the Notorious B.I.G., Kwame Kilpatrick, and Bumpy Johnson.

What is “Celebrity Crime Files?” As TV One viewers know, the show tells the true stories behind some of the most notorious crimes—mostly murders—in pop culture, and season one of the acclaimed documentary series included episodes on reggae icon Peter Tosh, hip-hop pioneer Jam Master Jay, R&B legend Marvin Gaye, and Rae Carruth, the NFL star who conspired to kill his pregnant girlfriend.

Season 2 of “Celebrity Crime Files” will “dig even deeper into the world of celebrity crimes,” according to TV One senior vice president of program strategy Maureen Gutham. “Viewers who turn to TV One for compelling storytelling are sure to be captivated by the subjects of this season,” she said.

What “Celebrity Crimes Files” is, essentially, is a chance for viewers to delve into the lives of famous people whose lives involved crazy scandals. In addition to the aforementioned superstars, the stars profiled on season 2 of “Celebrity Crime Files” include John Whitehead, one-half of the hitmaking duo McFadden and Whitehead; Scott LaRock, an ‘80s hip-hop pioneer murdered in his prime; Rubin “Hurricane” Carter, the boxing star wrongly imprisoned for a 1966 murder and later immortalized in a Bob Dylan song; Mac Dre, a rising rapper killed in a drive-by shooting; Lorenzen Wright, an NBA star whose murder remains a mystery; Magnolia Shorty, the “bounce music” star gunned down in a rental car; Michael Winans, a Grammy-winning producer convicted of financial fraud; and Lyman Bostock, a California Angels baseball star killed by a careless shotgun blast.
