Her role Olivia Pope in ABC’s Scandal and role Broomhilda in Django make a big impression on her opinion of Black women in the industry. Olivia Pope was a professional and powerful woman who went home and was an emotional wreck. Ms. Washington talks about how it takes great progress for a black woman to switch and evolve roles as Olivia Pope did. Olivia’s life is Broomhilda’s dream because Broomhilda did not have a voice in her world and was definitely not a person of power in the “old time movie.”
