After having K. Michelle on the show, I wanted to share my thoughts with you all about domestic abuse and my take on K. Michelle talking about being abused.

As a young girl, I witnessed my mother being abused, so I applaud anyone who speaks up to bring awareness to the issue. I believe that when people are open and honest about some of life’s obstacles and live to tell it, it can save so many lives. Her sharing her experience about what happened to her could encourage someone else to get out of an abusive relationship.

You know I read you guys’ responses on Twitter and I’ve read that some of you believe K. Michelle is just bitter about her break-up with Memphitz. First, I would like to say that for the past couple of years, K has been singing about her struggle on songs and sharing her story, but it fell on deaf ears. Just like she said on the first episode of “Love & Hip Hop Atlanta,” no one would listen to her, nor did anyone come to her defense.

Now, that she’s on TV, she has a bigger platform to share her story and now people are finally listening! Had Memphitz been a regular dude, I doubt anybody would have so much negative things to say. I believe K. Michelle told her story as respectfully as she could without throwing any shade towards Memphitz’s way, but at the end of the day, we all must be held accountable for our actions.

I said all of this to say that I hope K. Michelle’s story helped someone. I pray she touched someone who may be going through the same thing to realize that they don’t deserve that type of abuse and get the strength to get out!

I would like to thank K. Michelle and all women like her for speaking up and sharing such pain and trauma!
