George Zimmerman, a self-appointed Neighborhood Watchman will appear in a Sanford, Florida court today for a bond hearing. Zimmerman who fatally shot 17 year old Trayvon Martin may soon be released from jail.

A judge will decide today whether to release George Zimmerman on bond before his trial for second degree murder.

Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Lester Jr. took over the case Wednesday after the previous presiding judge stepped aside because of a conflict of interest.

Angela Corey is the special prosecutor on this case and if she feels Zimmerman should remain in jail then she may present some evidence to the state against him.

Trayvon Martin’s parents Sybina Fulton and Tracy Martin will attend the bond  hearing today. Zimmerman requested to meet with Trayvon Martin’s parents but they declined.

George Zimmerman has been convicted of second degree murder in the death of Trayvon Martin and could face up to 26 years in prison without the possibility of parole.
