Every Night Club or party I attend “The Percolator” is a guaranteed crowd mover! When I first started DJ’ing (before Serato & MP3 files where used) “The Percolator” was a hard to find record. Do you remember “Willies Records & Tapes?” I had to get my copy special ordered, wow right?! I ask people all the time, you dancing to it, “who is the creator of this Chicago House Hit? He goes by the name of Curtis Alan Jones.
Jones studied chemical engineering at the University of Illinois before becoming before becoming a musician . In 1991, he left a Master’s program at UC-Berkeley to move back to Chicago. In 1992, Jones released his 1st hit under the name Cajmere with the house tune “Coffee Pot” most people know it as “It’s Time for the Percolator.”
This has been a “Sunday School” Salute to Curtis Alan Jones, a true pioneer in Chicago House music.
