SMH…You have to be careful what you do in the dark because eventually it comes to light. A former Dekalb County police officer is beginning his 30 day jail sentence after pleading guilty to forcing two women to perform oral sex on him in exchange for his agreeing not to arrest them. He plead guilty to two counts of sodomy and one count of violating his oath of office in January and February of 2009.
According to Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Javier Garces was sentenced to three years all of which were suspended except for 30 days. The remainder of his sentence will be served as probation. He also register as a sex offender.
District Attorney Robert James had this to say:
“Garces’ actions were inexcusable and unacceptable for a sworn officer charged with keeping peace and justice. Instead of upholding his oath of office, he preyed on the very people he was tasked to protect.”
