Virginia General Assembly

The regular Virginia General assembly has concluded for 2019 and political experts think the number of scandals facing high-ranking Democrats could impact the upcoming election. Governor Ralph Northam and Attorney General Mark Herring both admitted to wearing blackface in college, and Lieutenant Governor Justin Fairfax faces sexual assault allegations by two women. All three are Democrats and in November every seat in the Senate and House are up for grabs.

Virginia Democrats made strides in the past two elections because of momentum in the Commonwealth against Donald Trump, but political experts think these scandals might change the tide this year.

The Virginia General and Special Elections will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Register to vote or check your voter status at Elections.Virginia.Gov
