The list of celebrities and activist stepping up to voice their opinions in Meek Mill’s sentencing is growing. The Rev. Al Sharpton will be making his way to the Pennsylvania prison where Meek is severing a 2 to 4 year jail sentence, today, to talk to Meek about his sentencing.

Rev. AL Sharpton said over the weekend that he is planning to visit Meek today as a part of an effort to get Meek a new hearing and to draw attention to the mass incarceration of young black men.

“This has happened to countless young black men, and meek represents that, and he can be an example of how we correct that,” Rev Sharpton said over the weekend in an interview.

This is not the first time that the Rev. Al Sharpton has stepped in to help a famous rapper. In the 90’s Sharpton helped  negotiate with the warden at New York’s Clinton Correctional Facility to have Tupac released from solitary confinement.
