Philando Castile was murdered by a cop in Minnesota in front of his girlfriend and four-year-old daughter. After she live-streamed the aftermath of what was clearly nothing short of brutal, savage injustice, and incensed the entire country, the cop wasn’t even found guilty. Now that the trial is over, more footage and information is coming to light that shows how just plain cruel and lawless the incident really was.

One of the most impactful moments in the footage that has recently come to light is in the hour or so after Philando was shot, when the cop then elected to put the woman in handcuffs in front of her child, and leave them sitting in the back of the police car. As Diamond Reynolds wails, her four-year-old daughter consoles her. It is an enraging and heartbreaking example of how police state violence affects our families and, more specifically, our children.
