David Banner starts off by thanking the morning show crew and especially Rickey Smiley and Da Brat for their years of relentless support and friendship. He talks about the blood, sweat and tears that went into the making of his latest album, “The God Box.” He says he employed 20 black businesses in the process and invested a lot of his own money, but he also went through a moment of doubt about its success, especially at a time when albums supposedly aren’t selling anymore.

The album has since hit number one on iTunes, and all of David’s hard work is being validated. He shares what that feels like, and what he is hoping for listeners of the album to take away from it. He also thanks rappers like BIG K.R.I.T., Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole for keeping audiences fed with lyricism and storytelling.
