Maybe imitation isn’t always the sincerest form of flattery.
Lil Wayne has finally called out Young Thug. While it wasn’t hard to see this coming given Thug’s recent cozying up to Birdman, it seems Thugger jacking Weezy’s Carter 6 album title might have been the final straw.
At a recent club performance Wayne doesn’t call out Young Thug by name but makes a pretty explicit reference to the rapper.
“I want y’all to do me a favor and stop listening to songs of n****s who pose naked on their motherf***ing album covers,” Wayne told the crowd to cheers.
So how do we know Weezy is taking shots at Young Thug? Well, because Young Thug is posing naked on his new album cover. It’s not just that, as mentioned above, Thug is also calling his upcoming project Tha Carter 6, an awkward way of continuing Wayne’s legacy at Cash Money.
Whether or not you heed Wayne’s request, Thugger’s new release drops next week on April 17. We’ll see what the real Carter has to say about it then.
