Via US Magazine reports:

It’s been big week for comedian Kevin Hart, whose movie The Wedding Ringer was released on Friday, Jan. 16 and who hosted the Jan. 17 episode of Saturday Night Live. But a recent radio interview with the actor, 35, has sparked some controversy after Hart said he would not play a gay character on the screen.

“I can’t,” he told Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club on Jan. 16 of playing a homosexual character. “Not because I have any ill will or disrespect. Its because I don’t think I’m really going to dive into that role 100 percent because of insecurities about myself trying to play that part. Does that make sense?”

The newly-engaged Hart also admitted that he turned down the role of Alpa Chino in 2008’s Tropic Thunder, which ultimately went to Brandon T. Jackson.

“The dude, he was doing a lot of stuff in the draft that I read,” Hart said. “It was real flagrant. … I was like, ‘I can’t do this.’”

The actor and stand-up comedian went on to explain that he didn’t have any problem with the gay community, adding, “As people, I love you.”
