A fun night at a Howard Homecoming party ended terribly for Chris Brown after he was arrested and charged with felony assault. According to reports, last night Chris Brown hosted a party at The Park at Fourteenth Nightclub before he headed to his hotel around 4:30am. It was there that he got into an argument with a man and allegedly began punching him. He and his bodyguard were handcuffed and thrown in jail, where Chris will spend the rest of the day.

According to TMZ:

TMZ just spoke with the victim. He tells us Chris broke his nose and he may need surgery as early as tomorrow morning. The victim confirmed he and a friend photo bombed the two women who were taking a picture with Brown when Chris went nuts. The victim says he’s not a Chris Brown fan … and was just hanging with a couple girls at the hotel when he saw the singer outside. The victim says he doesn’t understand why Brown would be “so homophobic” to hurl such a slur. And get this … the victim says he would have accepted an apology at the scene, but now he will absolutely press charges.

This seems to be the story that was told to cops when they arrived on the scene as well:

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ how the fight was triggered. Two woman approached Brown in front of the W Hotel and asked to take a picture with him. As the pic was about to be taken, 2 men rushed over to get in the photo. We’re told Chris then said, “I’m not into this gay s**t, I’m into boxing,” and threw a punch at the alleged victim. The fight was then taken to the ground.

Since this is a felony assault, if found guilty, Chris could go to jail up to four years since he is still on probation for the Rihanna domestic violence incident.

A mugshot has not emerged.

There are always at least two sides to a story but unfortunately, Chris won’t be able to tell his side until he’s released on bail Monday since the courts are not open on Sunday. How unfortunate.

A few celeb reactions:

B.o.B: 99% of the people hating on him wouldn’t even be able to handle being in his situation… which is why everybody isn’t a celebrity. I understand, ppl gotta talk about something. You know how many cousins and associated of mine get locked up frequently, I still don’t judge them nor wish worse things upon them. But bcuz someone is a “celebrity” it’s cool to wish the worst things imaginable on them… #entertainment. Y’all lay off my n-gga Chris!! Gossip, Envy, Hate, etc all come with the territory… and so does my freedom to speak on it!!

Marc Lamont Hill (CNN political analyst/ Host of HuffPost Live): This latest news about Chris Brown is troubling me, on many levels. I need to think about it more but it’s really bothering me…Chris Brown reminds me of the dangers of what @estherarmah calls “untreated trauma.” I feel sad for the people he hurts, but also for him. Even if the latest accusations are untrue, it is clear that Chris is dealing with all sorts of unresolved pain & anger. It’s crippling him. The people hurt by Chris Brown, or any of us, deserve justice. Unequivocally. But Chris also needs to find spaces and places to truly heal.
