Gabrielle Turnquest is not your average teenager. The 18-year-old Florida native recently passed the Bar exam at England’s University of Law, becoming the youngest person to earn law degree in U.K. history.
“I am honored to be the youngest person to pass the Bar exams but, really, I was not aware at the time what the average age was,” Turnquest said during an interview with The Telegraph. “I didn’t fully realize the impact of it.”
According to The University of Law’s records, the average lawyer takes the Bar Professional Training Course at age 27. Turnquest, who graduated from the Liberty University in Virginia at 16, completed the rigorous program 11 years below the average age.
The Florida teen is not the only person with brains in her family. She took the bar exam alongside her 22-year-old Kandi, and now both sisters are qualified to practice law in the United Kingdom.
“Studying at the University of Law has broadened my horizons and introduced me to a global legal system that will help me in my future career in the international fashion industry,” said Turnquest, who plans to attend the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising to study Apparel Industry Management this fall.
The new University of Law graduate was also the youngest person to earn a degree from her undergrad alma mater.
