No matter the world tours, huge festivals, jet-setting or fashion shows, Solange is a single mom first and that trumps anything else that may be going on in her career. While many entertainment moms hire nannies or pull in members of their family to watch their kids, Solange isn’t about that life.
Today, she released a statement saying she had to cancel her performances at festivals in Denmark, Belgium, Portugal, Norway, Finland and Poland for her “mental/physical health,” because she is juggling too many things, and it was the best decision for her and her son.
I am completely devastated to announce that I will be canceling my international festival dates for the Summer. I wish I could put in words how much of a difficult decision this was…but between moving part time to a new city, starting my son in a new school, and writing/ recording my new record…I really had to make the best decision for my mental/physical health and provide some stability for my family. I am so so sooooo sorry if Ive disappointed…… and really hope to make it out to those special cities soon enough!”
She recently canceled two gigs in Yorkshire and London because she said she wanted to make sure Juelz was set for the move and to start school.
“My son will be starting a new school … which unexpectedly begins a few weeks earlier than his previous one. It’s imperative that I am there [for] his first week to transition him. I really hope that you understand and I promise I’ll be back in your area soon enough to make up for it.”
Fans of Solange that live in the U.S. can still catch her in concert as she hits up festivals in L.A. Philly, Boston, Rochester Hills, and Brooklyn before the summer is over. You can catch those dates below:

It’s still very surprising that her sister Beyonce has only had to cancel one tour date so far. As a mom of a one-year-old, that world tour has to be wearing her out. That career and motherhood balancing is real.
