They say the third time is a charm! This is definitely what dreams are made of!

Last night, 23-year-old Candice Glover celebrated a huge victory as she was announced as the winner of American Idol.  The South Carolina native was up against 22-year-old Kree Harrison, and although she had auditioned for the show twice before, she never made it through. She says she’s happy that she never gave up and kept on trying:

I’m happy I came back, and that I was determined enough and it finally paid off.[…][I’m]speechless. Part of me is so happy that it happened, and part of me is relieved that I don’t have to sing for votes and worry about making it to the next round, because that’s such a stressful process. But I know the work is only going to get bigger from here on out.

Candice not only got to meet Drake a few weeks ago after singing his song, “Find Your Love”, but she also shared the stage last night with power vocalist Jennifer Hudson–who also got her start on the AI stage. After her win was announced, Candice cried her way through her new single “I Am Beautiful” and says that she loves the song because “I connect with it because of the words, and that’s part of the reason I was crying.”
