BALTIMORE (WTVR) — The FBI is investigating the death of a 64-year-old Midlothian woman on board a cruise ship heading back from the Bahamas. Investigators said the woman’s husband alerted crew members that his wife was unresponsive in their cabin and efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. FBI agents and an Evidence Response Team boarded the Royal Carribean Ship Enchantment of the Seas on Monday after it docked in Baltimore on Suday.

CBS 6 has learned the agents interviewed the husband, some passengers and several of the crew.

FBI spokesman Richard Wolf said the death is classified as “suspicious” because that is how “all deaths by undetermined cause” are classified by the FBI. He said the investigation into the woman’s death “active” and investigators are awaiting autopsy results. The FBI is awaiting the autopsy report from the medical examiner’s office. The woman’s name has not yet been released.

The family tells CBS 6 News senior reporter Wayne Covil that they are doing as well as can be expected under there trying circumstances.

The seven-day cruise from Baltimore to Florida to the Bahamas returned to Baltimore earlier this week.

WJZ reporter Meghan McCorkell filed the below report on Monday.
