The upcoming Quentin Tarantino film “Django Unchained” is the most talked about project in Hollywood right now. The soundtrack is beginning to become the most talked about in the music industry. Part of the reason may have to do with John Legend tapping into his inner gangsta on his new song “Who Did That To You?”

“Who Did That To You” finds Legend asking his woman who hurt her because he is going to defend her honor. The dusty instrumentation of the track matches the look and feel of “Django Unchained.”

Despite working on his own upcoming project Love In The Future, due spring 2013, John Legend knew he had to be involved with Quentin Tarantino’s film. “I’m excited to be a part of this film and the soundtrack. When I first learned that Quentin was making Django Unchained—a film set in the South two years before the Civil War—I felt a strong connection to the story,” Legend commented. “I knew that I wanted to compose a song for this film; a song that would not only give voice to Django, a man willing to stand up and fight for his lover’s honor, but also feel like a natural fit in a Tarantino film.”
