Rapper/Actress, Natina Reed, passed away Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle while trying to cross the street. More information has surfaced surrounding the accident and her untimely death. It was not a hit and run like originally reported and the driver that struck her did in fact pull over to call 911 while the passenger of the vehicle performed CPR.

The star was talking on her cell phone during the time of the accident and that may have been what distracted her as she attempted to cross the busy street. Rapper, Kurupt, who is the father of her ten year old son, Tren, has released the following statement:

Myself and Tren, Natina’s son, would like to thank everyone for their love and support during this tragic time. This is a tremendous loss to our family. Natina was a great person and I wish everyone had the opportunity to meet her and know her as I did.

Natina’s parents, Tamara Goodridge and Paul Reed, appeared on the local news asking for more information surrounding the death of their daughter.

We’re not looking to be victims. We’re not seeking to be angry, but we do need a resolve.

Her former Blaque group members, Brandi Williams & Shamari Fears-Devoe, have also released a joint statement.

On Behalf of Blaque and the entire Left Eye Music Family,

We are devastated by the loss of our group member, sister and friend Natina Reed. Because of the enormous support of Blaque fans and our love for each another, Blaque officially reunited this fall and we were in the process of working on a new album and a reality show. Natina continuously embodied the pioneering spirit of Blaque and her undeniable creativity touched the hearts of fans everywhere.
