Shellie Zimmerman, the wife of George Zimmerman, is facing prison time for telling lies. Mrs. Zimmerman was arrested on one count of perjury Tuesday. She was transported to the John E. Polk Correctional Facility. It is unclear whether or not she has been released on bond.
The wife of the 28-year-old accused killer of Trayvon Martin, apparently helped her husband lie about their financial status. Although they claimed to have been in dire need for economic assistance, the couple actually had $135,000 in their bank account, donated by the public via a now defunct website.
George Zimmerman remains in police custody after Judge Kenneth Lester revoked his bond, but has been granted a new hearing, scheduled to take place on June 29.
