Today is the first day of the lockout for the National Basketball League.

According to reports, Union chief Billy Hunter said “it’s obvious the lockout will happen tonight.” Players and owners have failed to reach a collective bargaining agreement, which has caused a lockout for the 2011-2012 basketball season. They met for 3 hours today and were unsuccessful with coming up with a solution.

The NBA locked out its players Friday when its collective bargaining agreement expired at midnight. The two sides have been drawing lines in the sand for months — maybe even years — and those lines are miles apart.
