The Core DJ’s is the largest, most influential DJ group and the leader announced that Erykah Badu has joined the ranks.
Tony Neal, founder of the Core, made the announcement on his Twitter on February 4.
“Big move today. @fatbellybella (Erykah Badu’s Twitter handle) in the Core. My sis is a serious DJ,” he said.
While the move may come as a shock for some, Badu has quietly been honing her DJ skills in small, intimate venues.
She said, “I am honored and do not take it for granted. b-girl for life . head wrapped and strapped.”
Badu will reportedly don the DJ moniker DJ Loretta Brown when she is on the wheels of steel.
The singer/producer/songwriter will be DJ’ing all weekend as the NFL Super Bowl takes place in her hometown of Dallas, TX.
