Born in a small town 50 minutes west of Cleveland that is more famous for its theme park rather then its music scene, Cousin Keith is no stranger to dedication and hard work. He was raised in a home filled with records and pro audio- his father would play albums every Saturday morning as he cleaned the house. But it was his mother that would encourage him to do radio. “My mom would listen to the radio practically everyday as she cleaned the kitchen and it was during those moments as a child that I decided to do radio” Keith says.
While in high school Keith made pause & play mix tapes for friends on a small Aiwa stereo system he received for Christmas. Like many young teens attempting to find their way he tried rapping and singing too but it was radio that would have the final say.
Shortly after his high school graduation, he enrolled into Columbus State where he began an internship with Blue Chip broadcastings’ WCKX, Power 107.5. While there he started off doing swing shifts filling in on a part time basis. It wasn’t long before his talent was revealed and he was offered a full time position doing overnights and later the quiet storm. The show was later turned into the midnight mix tape followed by numerous #1 ratings.
In 2003 Cousin Keith joined fellow radio personality Sean Anthony to do nights on WCKX Power 107.5. After numerous number one ratings the motor city came calling. Keith moved to Detroit to do nights on Radio One’s WHTD Hot 102.7 in 2005 which was very successful as well.
In 2008, Cousin Keith moved to Richmond, VA to do nights on WCDX iPower 92.1. In 2012, he started middays “In the Crib with Cousin Keith” from 10 a – 3 p. His midday motivation can be heard daily at 10:40 a as well as the infamous “Gimmie Five” at 1 p. Keith loves God and loves to laugh. He’s a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Chicago Bulls. He also enjoys coaching kids and playing basketball. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his wife and children along with traveling.
