Rob Ford

Former Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has died at age 46.

After a battle with abdominal cancer, the infamous Canadian mayor passed away while in hospice care. Officials from his office released a statement which reads, “With heavy hearts and profound sadness, the Ford family announces the passing of their beloved son, brother, husband, and father, Councillor Rob Ford earlier today at the age of 46.”

Rob Ford became a controversial figure in 2013 when Gawker reported the existence of a video featuring the Toronto Mayor smoking crack cocaine. He then became a media sensation after exhibiting a series of bizarre behaviors like dancing, falling, playing football, speaking Jamaican patois, and even being drunk at a fast food restaurant.

Last May, Rob Ford underwent a 10-hour surgery to remove the cancer attacking his abdomen and things appeared to be getting better, but in October, Rob announced doctors discovered more tumors in his bladder.

This story is developing.

RIP, Mr. Ford.
