It looks like former Virginia governor Bob McDonnell will remain free while his corruption convictions are on appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court. Monday’s decision from the highest court in the land comes after McDonnell failed to win retrials from lower federal courts and could not convince a federal court in Richmond to allow him to stay out of prison.

Former Virginia governor Bob McDonnell faces two years in prison for his 11-count corruption convictions, but has been allowed to remain free until now while his appeals were heard in lower levels of the federal court system.
