This year’s MTV Video Music Awards was really only notable for two things: Kanye 2020 and being a two-hour ad for Miley Cyrus‘s new album. Watching Cyrus’s  skits was similar to a bizarre endurance test, and your award for surviving is a new and free album. Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz dropped right after the ceremony ended.

The follow-up to Bangerz is a big one. Dead Petz is a 23-track album that features the likes of Big Sean, electronic duo Phantogram (who collaborated with Big Boi) and indie eccentric Ariel Pink. The project features “Dooo It!”, which is the song Cyrus performed at the VMAs finale. Cyrus also dropped a video for it.

Dead Petz was in the making for a while. Last April, Cyrus publicly expressed her heartbreak following the passing of her pet dog. Two weeks later, she was hospitalized for a week following a severe allergic reaction to antibiotics. Wayne Coyne, lead singer of the Flaming Lips, visited her while she was sick, and soon, he became a big on influence Dead Petz.

Dead Petz is probably going to be met with apprehension following her poor VMAs performance (and because most Cyrus-related things come with a scent of slander). But this could be good. Give the album a listen below.
