Last night nearly 10 million viewers tuned in for the premiere of “Empire,” one of the new shows in the Fox fall line-up.

Fans were waiting with baited breath for the show to premiere – and for some it was just what they were waiting on.They loved the creative way Lee Daniels and team told the backstory of Cookie, Lucious and their boys. They also enjoyed the depth of the storyline, the music and that R&B and hip hop had made it to prime time television!

For others, well, they weren’t so impressed, stating that the acting was horrible; it wasn’t as good as 50 Cent’sPower;”and that it was boring and offensive. Others felt the numerous music scenes made the show seem much like a musical (a black “Glee some said).

No matter what everyone loved – Cookie.

Cookie, played by Taraji P. Henson, is a former drug dealer who has spent 17 years in jail while her ex-husand Lucious, played by Terrence Howard, has raised their kids and built Empire, a record label.

During the first episode Cookie gets out of jail and comes home ready to reclaim her rightful position in the business (she was the initial investor with $400,000 of drug money).

Things get really interesting when Cookie comes home.

Most of last night’s social media conversation was all about Cookie. Her one-liners were poignant, funny and sometimes offensive – but we loved every minute of it.

Here’s a recap of some of Cookie’s best moments.
