It was a day in the dark when the a power cable feeding the warren sub-station failed the grid went down taking a large part of Detroit into darkness.

According to Local 4, here are the numbers:

1400 buildings affected

900 locations city-wide

This is only the latest power struggle the city is having. Detroit lost power twice in 2013. The concern now: how soon before it happens again?

Detroit’s infrastructure is one of America’s worst.

Police love triangle erupts with armed standoff

A love triangle involving police officers ended with an armed standoff. You have a former Highland Park police officer, his wife and their girlfriend who happens to be a Highland Park police officer. And that’s what set off this domestic drama involving former Highland Park police reserve officer James Johnson, charged with trying to kill his wife, Vivian, and their lover, fellow Highland Park officer Varee Roberson.

“We had a threesome in June, I gave in hoping to keeping my husband at home and instead this is what it brought me,” Vivian Johnson said.

According to Fox 2, after discovering the condom that mid-November day, Vivian Johnson called officer Varee Roberson over to their Center Line house. She was angry James had been with yet a third woman.

She claims they confronted him in the bedroom and the argument got heated fast.. James started to attack Varee who he first met, while he was on the Highland Park police force. James fired and luckily missed his wife. He then left, but not for long.

According to court transcripts the women took a bath together, got ready and just as they were walking out of the house, James appeared in the garage with his gun drawn. Someone called Center Line police who were down the street and arrived in time.

James was pointing a gun at his wife, the Highland Park police officer’s girlfriend was pointing her gun at James. James then barricaded himself inside his house. Officers were eventually able to coax him out and brought him into custody.

But this isn’t the first time police were called to their Center Line home. Vivian Johnson wanted us to conceal her identity, but we found her mug shot after we learned she was charged last summer for shooting at her husband. Right around the same time, James resigned from the Highland Park police. Vivian says this marriage is now over – but this case is far from it. James learned Tuesday he’s heading to trial. As for officer Roberson, she is still on the job at Highland Park police.

FOX 2 spoke to Highland Park Chief Kevin Coney who called it a personal issue and something that didn’t happen on the job. James Johnson was bound over for trial Tuesday with a bond set for $700,000 with no contact with his wife or girlfriend.

Taylor man’s body found in his front yard had been dead for days

The discovery of a dead body was made by a meter reader at a Taylor home. The 73-year-old homeowner of a residence on Inkster Road was found in the front yard next to his truck. Police say he died days earlier.

Traffic is heavy and fast on this stretch of road north of Ecorse, the houses sit away from the street and most of the people choose to live here for a reason. Which might explain why no one discovered the body of the homeowner laying near his pick-up for a couple days.

But it still comes as a shock to those who live just feet away. Police are working to notify his family, while neighbors are able to provide only limited information on the man. Police had the driveway roped off Tuesday afternoon but say he died of natural causes.

Police say this is an important messages especially around the holidays when the days are colder and darker. Just another reason to look out for one another.

Homeless Man In Pontiac Steals An Ambulance To Go To The Strip Club

The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office says a 51-year-old man stole an ambulance on Sunday to drive to a topless bar. The Pontiac man, Bryan Kryscio, was arrested and charged with Unlawfully Driving Away of an Automobile for taking the Star EMS ambulance that was sitting outside of McLaren Hospital.

According to Local 7, attendants were taking a patient into the emergency room around 11 p.m. when Kryscio apparently hopped in and took off with the vehicle. The keys were still inside. One of the workers was able to track the ambulance and police located the vehicle near 18 Mile and Ryan Road in Sterling Heights.

The sheriff’s office says Kryscio said he was headed to the Booby Trap Bar. We’re told the 51-year-old is homeless and suffers from mental health issues.

A preliminary exam is scheduled for December 9. A preliminary exam date was scheduled at 1:30 p.m. Dec. 9 in front of Judge Preston Thomas at 50th District Court.
