Producer Chauncey Mahan was detained on Friday by police after members of Jay-Z’s camp accused him of trying to extort money for stolen music recordings of Jay-Z from 1998-2002.

Mahan insists that the charge is bogus and Def Jam instructed him to maintain the recordings because back then…Jay-Z “was a stupid kid smoking blunts” and was reckless with his intellectual property.

Mahan admits that he asked for $100,000 in compensation and fees for maintaining the master recordings which included hit songs from Jay-Z’s “Volume 3″ and “Dynasty” albums.

The recordings are now in possession of police until proper ownership has been established.
