The stepson of Grammy-award winning hip-hop star Usher has died two weeks after the child was injured in a boating accident on Lake Lanier, 40 miles east of Atlanta.
11-year-old Kile Glover was the son of Usher’s ex-wife Tameka Foster Raymond. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Kile died Saturday morning at an Atlanta area hospital.
The boy was run over by a jet ski while being pulled in an inner tube with a 15-year-old girl. The two were flown to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. Kile was hospitalized with a major brain injury and was soon after declared brain dead.
A friend of the the family reported that Kile was taken off life-support, but later clarified that the he died of heart failure, according to Channel 2 Action News, a local Atlanta news station.
Usher and his ex-wife were in the middle of an ugly custody battle over their two sons, 4-year-old Usher V and 3-year-old Naviyd, when the accident occurred. He has since let up on some of his custody demands, according to media reports.
