There are reports that there may be a new Aaliyah album in the works for all you Aaliyah fans, myself included!
Jeffery “J. Dub” Walker, who co-wrote “I Refuse” and “What If” for the singer’s final 2001 studio album, Aaliyah, tweeted Monday that a posthumous album is currently in the works composed entirely of material that was previously unreleased.
J-Dub’s tweet: “Just got great news today; the smash unreleased song called ‘Steady Ground’ I produced on #Aaliyah is gonna be on her upcoming album.”
Soon after Aaliyah’s brother, Rashad updated his twitter by tweeting: “Statement: there is no official album being released and supported by the Haughton family.”
Walker’s tweet has since been removed.
Hmm…so I don’t know. Maybe Rashad didn’t get the memo yet? Time will definitely tell.
Just a month before her tragic death on August 25, 2001, Aaliyah released her third studio album, self-titled Aaliyah.
